Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari has underscored the importance of tourism and people-to-people connectivity in advancing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nepal.

Speaking at the Nepal-Bangladesh Tourism Meet in Chattogram on Wednesday evening, Ambassador Bhandari called for deeper cooperation to "truly connect the heights of the Himalayas with the depths of the Bay of Bengal."

The event, held under the theme "Destination Nepal: From the Bay of Bengal to the Himalayas" was organised by the Embassy of Nepal in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board in Chattogram, said a press release here today.

The Nepalese envoy highlighted ongoing efforts by his government to enhance tourism infrastructure and acknowledged the significant contributions of travel and tour entrepreneurs in branding Nepal as a premier tourist destination.

Director of Tourism Marketing and Promotion at the Nepal Tourism Board Rohini Prasad Khanal presented Nepal's rich and diverse tourism offerings, encouraging Bangladeshi travel agents and tour operators to deepen collaborative efforts.

He identified Bangladesh as one of Nepal's key source markets and expressed optimism for a growing influx of Bangladeshi visitors.

The event featured Nepali folk cultural performances by Nepalese students studying in Chattogram and included a raffle draw offering tour packages and round-trip air tickets on the Dhaka-Kathmandu route.

The Nepali delegation comprised officials from the Nepal Tourism Board and representatives from 13 leading tour and travel agencies.

More than 120 participants, including local representatives from Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), hotels, airlines, and tourism-related organisations, attended the event.
