The six franchises for the inaugural D-Three Trophy have already been finalised, but their team managements will also be assembled through a draft, with the management draft scheduled for Tuesday.

H Bluestar, Walton Group, Citizens Bank, ACME Group, Seven Rings Cement and Fortune Group have secured ownership of the six teams for three years. Each franchise will pay an annual fee of Tk2.5 cr.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) introduced the six franchise owners at a ceremony at a luxury hotel in the capital on Sunday night, where the owners also selected their respective icon cricketers.

Walton picked Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Fortune chose Towhid Hridoy, ACME selected Mosaddek Hossain, Seven Rings Cement took Mushfiqur Rahim, H Bluestar opted for Nurul Hasan Sohan, while Citizens Bank selected Mohammad Naim.

The inaugural D-Three Trophy will begin with the T20 competition, scheduled to start at Jibonananda Das Cricket Stadium in Barishal on 15 December.

The four-day tournament is planned for January, followed by the one-day competition in May. The six teams will play a total of 42 matches across the three formats.

Before the franchises begin building their squads, however, they must first put their management teams in place.

Each franchise can have a maximum of 11 management members. Seven positions will be filled through Tuesday’s draft: one head coach, two assistant coaches, one physiotherapist, one strength and conditioning coach and one performance analyst.

The remaining four positions, a team manager, one masseur and two team boys, can be appointed directly by the franchise owners.

Those appointments, however, must meet BCB eligibility criteria and regulations and will require final approval from the board.

The BCB will directly nominate one selector for each franchise.

Once the management draft is completed, attention will turn to the players’ draft, scheduled for 26 October.

Each team will be allowed to select a maximum of 23 cricketers for the three-format competition.
