The government has decided to introduce online application for dual citizenships certificate by annulling the existing offline provision from May 16 next.

“Applications for dual citizenship will not be accepted directly in hard copy (offline) at Bangladesh embassies/missions abroad and the Ministry of Home Affairs from May 16 next,” a home ministry notice said  here today .

Applications for dual citizenship certificate will be accepted and settled online cent percent from May 16 next to ensure transparency and accountability and provide rapid service.

As per the notification, one can apply by logging in with his/her own gmail ID at the link scs.ssd.gov.bd and filling up the prescribed form online, uploading the necessary documents and paying the government fee through e-payment.

Filing of the application will be settled online and the applicant will receive the digital certificate by e-mail, it said.

The digital certificate with QR Code can be downloaded and collected from his/her own gmail ID, the notification added.
