Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has presented a signed Argentina national team jersey to the Bangladesh National Museum, sparking widespread excitement and drawing hundreds of visitors daily.

The jersey, which features the signatures of Lionel Messi and World Cup teammates Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández, has quickly become a primary attraction at the museum since its display opened to the public.

The museum preserves the historic artefact inside a specially bound frame in a designated exhibition room. The autographs of three key members of Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning squad make the jersey a highly valuable piece of global football history.

National Museum Keeper (Department of History and Classical Art) Mohammad Monirul Hoque told the Daily Sun that the museum received the official jersey of the Argentina national team on 29 June, courtesy of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

He said visitor numbers have increased significantly since the exhibition opened, with crowds peaking during holidays. People of all ages visit the gallery with their families, and many take photographs in front of the framed jersey to share on social media.

Argentine football fans have shown exceptional interest in the display. Visitors said displaying such an iconic piece of football memorabilia in Bangladesh is a source of pride for the local sports community.

Museum guard Mohammad Miraj said the steady influx of visitors has transformed the gallery into a lively hub for football enthusiasts.
