Thailand’s newly appointed ambassador to Bangladesh, Thitiporn Chirasawadi, has met Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam to discuss steps to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The envoy paid the courtesy call on 20 November, after presenting her Letter of Credence to the President of Bangladesh on 4 November, according to a statement from the Embassy of Thailand in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening ties, with particular emphasis on the planned launch of the first-ever maritime trade route between Ranong Port in Thailand and Chittagong Port in Bangladesh.
They also discussed future negotiations on a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which both countries hope will boost trade and investment.
