Iran’s Health Ministry on Saturday said that renewed US attacks on the country since 6 July have killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 500.
Weeks after signing an interim agreement aimed at reaching a final deal to end the war both sides have resumed strikes on targets that are key to their interests.
On 6 July, the US resumed strikes after Iran fired on ships passing through the waterway. US attacks have focused on the southern coast but some other parts of Iran have also been hit.
The US strikes have caused widespread devastation in Iran, while Tehran has responded with missiles and drones at American bases across the Middle East, the large majority of which has been intercepted.
Following relentless and devastating US bombing, Iran on Saturday for the first time said that the interim agreement was dead.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had publicly renounced the deal, and shortly afterwards American forces stepped up attacks on Iran.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, who is also head of the Iranian technical negotiating team, said that in practice, the US has violated all the commitments and suspended the MoU entirely.
“We also likewise have suspended all of our commitments as a result; we are no longer implementing those commitments,” he added.
