The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with a case filed over the alleged leak of question papers for a Department of Youth Development recruitment examination.

Sohag Fakir was arrested during a raid in Durgabardi village in Madaripur’s Rajoir upazila around 10:30pm on Tuesday (20 October).

Two smartphones were seized from his possession, the CID said in a statement on Wednesday.

The examination for the post of assistant upazila youth development officer, scheduled for 10 October, was postponed following allegations of a question paper leak.

A case was filed with Motijheel Police Station in Dhaka on 11 October under Sections 4, 5 and 9(a) of the Public Examinations (Offences) Act, 1950.

The CID said investigators traced Sohag through information gathered during the probe and intelligence reports.

Steps are being taken to produce him before a court, while the investigation continues, the statement added.

Sohag is a resident of Sutarkandi area under Bajitpur union in Rajoir upazila of Madaripur.
