The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday hosted an exchange of ideas session at a hotel in Dhaka, bringing together board officials and councillors from across the country for a constructive discussion on the future growth and development of cricket in Bangladesh.

The event was attended by BCB president Tamim Iqbal, vice president Fahim Sinha, directors, Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury and BCB councillors representing districts and divisions nationwide.

The majority of the board’s 72 district and divisional councillors participated in the programme.

The session provided an open platform for councillors and BCB officials to exchange views on strengthening cricket structures at the grassroots level, enhancing player development pathways and addressing challenges faced by cricket organisers in districts and divisions.

Speaking at the event, BCB boss Tamim highlighted the vital role played by districts and divisions in sustaining Bangladesh’s cricketing ecosystem.

He urged councillors to ensure the regular organisation of local leagues, describing competitive cricket at the grassroots level as the foundation for identifying and nurturing talent.

The BCB chief termed regular local competitions as the starting point for developing players and creating opportunities for young cricketers.

The BCB supremo also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to supporting regional cricket through continued improvements in infrastructure and training facilities across the country.

Throughout the discussions, councillors shared their expectations, experiences and operational challenges with board officials.

Topics ranging from facilities, competitions and talent identification to administrative support and resource allocation were discussed in a candid and collaborative environment.

The councillors welcomed the initiative and thanked the BCB for creating a forum where their perspectives could be heard directly by the board leadership.

They expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at finding practical solutions for the advancement of cricket at the grassroots level.
