Bangladesh, Netherlands discuss maritime cooperation, infrastructural development

Dutch Ambassador Joris van Bommel recently met with Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam to discuss opportunities for strengthening Bangladesh–Netherlands cooperation.

The discussion covered maritime cooperation, the implementation of existing MoUs, and future collaboration in shipbuilding, port modernisation, maritime infrastructure, export diversification, knowledge and institutional partnerships, and security cooperation, the Embassy said in a social media post.The ambassador also highlighted the upcoming Netherlands Trade Mission to Bangladesh in October 2026, which will focus on shipbuilding, port development, and maritime infrastructure, creating new opportunities for business partnerships and bilateral engagement.
