Bangladesh is set to host the Regional Conference of Youth (RCOY) Asia Pacific 2026 for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the country’s growing engagement in global climate diplomacy and youth-led climate action.
The flagship youth climate conference, held under YOUNGO, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is provisionally scheduled for the first week of October 2026.
The conference is expected to bring together young climate leaders, activists and organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region to strengthen regional cooperation and amplify youth voices in global climate negotiations.
According to the organisers, 12 organisations from 10 countries have joined hands to host the event.
SEECTO Bangladesh will serve as the lead organiser, while the co-organisers include Young Climate Champions (Uzbekistan), Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance, CultivEarth (India), Youth Climate Activists Pakistan (YCAPK), Climate for Us (Kazakhstan), Youth Council for Climate Action (Cambodia), Mumkinchilik Dunyasi ES (Turkmenistan), Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network (Asia), Blue Water Association (Afghanistan), Nepal Youth Lead Development Centre, and Tajikistan Youth for Water and Climate Network (Y4WC).
The RCOY is a recognised youth-led platform under YOUNGO that connects local, national and regional youth perspectives with international climate negotiations. Recommendations formulated during the conference are consolidated into policy proposals that are later presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP).
Organisers said hosting the conference would create a valuable opportunity for Bangladeshi youth to participate more actively in international climate diplomacy, policy advocacy and regional collaboration.
They also believe the event will strengthen youth-led climate initiatives and promote inclusive participation in climate governance across the region.
