Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chinese envoy congratulated the prime minister on his successful participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and various programmes in New York.
During the meeting, Tarique Rahman stressed the need to further expand trade, investment and development cooperation between the two countries, as well as cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including the Rohingya crisis.
Ambassador Yao Wen said China would continue to support Bangladesh’s development efforts and expressed hope that bilateral relations would be further strengthened.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1 Humayun Kabir and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Chairman Ashik Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
The Chinese ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Liu Yuin.
