After witnessing three consecutive reductions, gold prices in Bangladesh have risen again, with the price of 22-carat gold increasing by Tk2,158 per bhori in the domestic market.
The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) announced the revised rates in a press release issued on Thursday morning (21 May), setting the new price of 22-carat gold at Tk238,121 per bhori (11.664 grams).
The updated prices came into effect from 10:00am on Thursday.
According to BAJUS, the latest adjustment was driven by a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, alongside broader market considerations.
Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold is now being sold at Tk227,331 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk194,848 per bhori. Gold produced through the traditional method is priced at Tk158,689 per bhori.
The latest hike signals renewed volatility in Bangladesh’s gold market after a brief period of declining prices.
