The government has taken an initiative to recover all the default loans in the country’s financial sector, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon.
The move is part of the government’s push to realise all its election pledges, he said at an pre-Eid greetings event hosted at the hallroom of Agailjhara upazila, Barishal on Wednesday.
Almost 30% of all the authorised loans taken over the past 20 years defaulted, which could not have been possible with support from the ousted Awami League government, Swapon said.
Now the nation has been unfairly burdened with the huge amount of loans, he noted.
