The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Dhaka and its surrounding areas by 1:00pm today.
In its six-hour forecast issued on Thursday (6 August) from 7:00am, the BMD said the sky over the capital and adjoining areas may remain cloudy, with light rain or thundershowers likely at places.
The forecast also said south to south-westerly winds may blow at speeds of 10 to 15 km/h, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
According to the BMD, the temperature in Dhaka was 26.4 degrees Celsius at 6:00am, with relative humidity at 97 per cent.
The capital recorded a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while the minimum temperature on Thursday was 25 degrees Celsius.
Sunset in Dhaka is expected at 6:39pm today, while sunrise on Friday will be at 5:30am. The BMD also recorded 50 mm of rainfall in the capital over the past 24 hours.
