The Bangladesh Cricket Board included uncapped pace bowler Musfik Hasan for the opening Test of the two-match series against Australia, scheduled at Darwin from 13 August.
The right-arm pace bowler was included in the squad after Nahid Rana was ruled out from the series, while fellow pacer Shoriful Islam is not available for the first Test.
Both the pace bowlers are recovering from their respective injuries.
Left-handed batter Soumya Sarkar, who is known to be comfortable against pace and bounce, returned to the Test roster after a gap of five and a half years.
His last Test appearance came against the West Indies in Mirpur back in February 2021.
Wicket-keeper Jaker Ali Anik, who previously played a Test in Sri Lanka last year, was included in the Test squad for the historic series as Litton Kumar Das will miss out on the Darwin Test due to injury.
Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who did not feature in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, returned after a break.
Ebadot Hossain had to cut short his paternity leave as Bangladesh are missing two frontline pacemen.
Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Nayeem Hasan, Robiul Haque, Mahidul Islam Ankon, who were part of the Zimbabwe Test squad, failed to retain their spot.
Bangladesh team will depart on 31 July and play a three-day game against Cricket Australia XI at Darwin from 6-8 August.
The two-match series is part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
Mackay will host the second and final Test from 22-26 August.
