More than a year before the 2027 One Day International World Cup begins, excitement among cricket fans is already soaring, with more than 15 million ticket applications submitted in just 12 days.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that it had received 15,083,752 applications from 4,423,417 registered fans across 142 countries since registration opened.
The 14th edition of the tournament will run from 2 October to 21 November next year, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia jointly hosting the event. The ICC unveiled the schedule on 1 October.
Fans from the United Kingdom submitted the highest number of applications, followed by South Africa, India, the United States and Australia.
ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta welcomed the overwhelming response, saying the demand reflected the tournament’s global appeal and Africa’s popularity as a tourism destination. He added that further promotional campaigns and content would be introduced over the next year to build anticipation.
How to apply for World Cup tickets
Fans can register through the ICC’s official website until 11:59pm South African time on 21 November, or 3:59am on 22 November in Bangladesh.
Registration is free. Applicants can submit one application per match and apply separately for multiple matches.
Applying early offers no advantage. If applications exceed available tickets for a match, a lottery will determine who gets the opportunity to purchase tickets.
