Bangladesh spinners Nasum Ahmed and Shak Mahedi Hasan have broken into the top 10 of the latest ICC T20 International bowling rankings, marking a career-best achievement for both players.
The ICC’s latest rankings, released on Wednesday, saw Nasum rise three places to eighth, while Mahedi made an even bigger jump of 10 spots to ninth.
Nasum now has 690 rating points, with Mahedi just three points behind on 687, placing the two Bangladesh spinners among the world’s leading T20I bowlers.
At the top of the rankings, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan regained the No. 1 position by edging past Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. Rashid climbed to 720 points, while Abrar dropped to second with 718.
Abrar claimed only one wicket in his two appearances at the Asian Games in Japan. Rashid, meanwhile, returned to the top without playing a match during the period.
India’s Axar Patel was another major mover, jumping 16 places to seventh.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz slipped four positions to 12th, while Salman Mirza dropped seven places to 23rd.
In the T20I batting rankings, India captain Shreyas Iyer entered the top 10 for the first time. He climbed 18 places to seventh after hitting his maiden T20I century against the West Indies.
