The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has formed a six-member committee to investigate allegations against Dr Jahangir Kabir and his organisation, Health Revolution Limited.

The allegations include the death of a diabetic patient at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after following advice to stop insulin and take a keto diet and supplements.

The DGHS formed the committee on Thursday, according to sources at the health directorate on Saturday.

Earlier, the Department of Endocrinology at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital lodged a complaint against Health Revolution Limited over the issue.

According to a notice signed by Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam, director of the Hospital and Clinic Branch of the DGHS, the directorate took the allegation of the patient’s death into account and formed the six-member committee to investigate the matter.

The committee has been asked to submit its report, along with a clear opinion on the allegations, within 10 working days.

Prof Dr Mohammad Monir-Uz-Zaman, principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College and professor of medicine, has been appointed convener of the committee, while Dr Md Mahmudur Rahman, assistant director (Hospital-1) at the DGHS, has been made member-secretary.
