Bangladesh football officials have kicked off talks with Japanese club FC Imabari at the AFC Congress, looking to tap into Japan’s football playbook to boost their own youth ranks.
BFF Vice President Md Nasser Shahriar Zahedee sat down with the J2 League side on Friday to hammer out a proposed Memorandum of Understanding.
The deal aims to build a direct pipeline between the two countries, using player and coach exchange programmes to give Bangladesh’s rising talents and dugout staff vital overseas experience.
Zahedee, who is well-versed in nurturing grassroots talent as the founding president of the Shams-ul-Huda Football Academy, led the federation’s line-up alongside BFF General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar. Facing them across the table were FC Imabari’s Takuya Yamada and Eito Matsuyuki of the Mitsubishi Corporation.
Federation officials say the main goal of the tie-up is to get young players and coaches learning their trade in a top-class footballing environment. They view the Japanese move as part of a wider game plan to lock in international partnerships and open up fresh, exciting pathways for the next generation to shine on the pitch.
