A Dhaka court on Sunday directed the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to investigate and submit a probe report in an intimidation and defamation case filed against actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahadat passed the order after the case was filed by Azizur Rahman Tiger, Dipjol’s cousin and managing director of A One Trading.
Confirming the development, Bench Assistant Radel Khandaker said the court recorded the complainant’s statement and directed the DB to submit its report by 24 September.
The other accused in the case are Dipjol’s manager, Abdul Goni, and his personal assistant, Khokon.
According to the case statement, Dipjol attempted to defame Tiger and filed a general diary (GD) falsely claiming ownership of a property.
The complaint further alleged that Dipjol later made a social media post on the matter, which was subsequently circulated by various media outlets. It also claimed that police found no evidence linking the complainant to the earlier GD filed by Dipjol’s manager.
The case further alleged that the matter damaged the complainant’s reputation, harmed his business, and caused financial losses worth several crores of taka.
