Activists from BNP and allied groups beat up members from 30 student organisations, including Chhatra Shibir, and Chhatra Shakti, inside National Medical College Hospital while they were undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the clash at Jagannath University.
Around 5pm, the BNP-linked activists entered the hospital, and started beating activists from Shibir and Chhatra Shakti both inside and outside the emergency department.
One Shibir activist was dragged out of the Emergency section and beat up indiscriminately.
Police said they were increasing presence at the hospital to prevent the clash from spreading.
