Newly-elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar at around 10:15am on Saturday.
The information was confirmed by the President’s Press Wing and relevant administrative sources on Friday.
According to the sources, the newly-elected President will place a wreath at the altar of the memorial on Saturday morning.
He will then observe a moment of silence in solemn remembrance of the heroic martyrs and their outstanding contribution to the Liberation War.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force will accord him a guard of honour, while a solemn bugle tune will be played.
After paying tribute, President Mirza Fakhrul will sign the visitors’ book kept on the memorial premises.
