A motorcyclist was killed after a private car hit his motorcycle in the capital’s Vatara area on Friday.

The accident occurred around 10:00am on the 100 Feet Road near United Medical College Hospital.

The deceased was Sazzad Hossain Rabbi, 32, son of Shahjahan Gazi of Mohakhali Madhyapara. He worked at a clothing shop.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the body was kept at the emergency department morgue.

The concerned police station was informed and the car was seized, which has been kept in police custody, Faruk added.

Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) declared him dead around 3:15pm.

Sazzad’s sister Shampa said he was riding to his workplace when a car hit him, leaving him seriously injured.

Pedestrians took him to United Medical College Hospital. Later, relatives shifted him to NITOR in Agargaon. As his condition worsened, he was taken to DMCH, where he died.
