The “Prachyanat School of Acting and Design”, a pioneering institution in Bangladesh’s theatre movement, is set to celebrate 25 years of nurturing theatre talent with a two-day festival titled “Prachyanat School’s Silver Jubilee Festival” on 30 and 31 July.

The festival will take place at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital, marking the theatre troupe’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 2001.

Over the past two and a half decades, the school has trained hundreds of aspiring artistes through a comprehensive curriculum covering acting, dramaturgy, voice, movement, aesthetics and creative thinking. Many of its graduates have gone on to establish successful careers in theatre, film, television, advertising, education and other cultural fields across the country.

According to the organisers, the school has always aimed to cultivate not only artistic excellence but also human values, teamwork, social responsibility and creative expression among its students.

The two-day celebration will reunite former and current students, teachers, trainers, theatre personalities and cultural enthusiasts representing the school’s 1st to 50th batches. The programme will feature the graduation production of the 50th batch, tribute sessions, award presentations, cultural performances and reunion activities, reflecting the institution’s enduring contribution to Bangladesh’s theatre landscape.

Organisers describe the festival as more than a commemorative event. They see it as a celebration of a significant milestone in the country’s theatre education, one that honours the school’s legacy while inspiring a new generation of performers and strengthening the future of Bangladesh’s cultural and theatrical heritage.
