President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir offered ziarat (prayers) at the holy shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA) today following his arrival in Sylhet for an official day visit.
The President arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) shrine at around 12:30 pm, spending time in quiet reflection, reciting tasbih, and offering special prayers. He subsequently travelled by motorcade to the shrine of Hazrat Shahparan (RA) to pay his respects before returning to the Sylhet Circuit House.
The touchdown occurred at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 11:27 am. The President was greeted on arrival by a high-level delegation, including Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, alongside local Members of Parliament, political leaders, and senior district administration officials.
Following his airport arrival, the President proceeded directly to the Sylhet Circuit House, where he was accorded a formal guard of honour.
A civic reception hosted by the Sylhet City Corporation is scheduled for the afternoon to honour the head of state.
Security across Sylhet has been significantly tightened to ensure safety throughout the high-profile visit. President Alamgir is scheduled to complete his official duties and fly back to Dhaka from Osmani International Airport later this evening.
