The government has carried out a major reshuffle in the police administration by transferring and assigning new postings to 21 senior officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre, including four newly promoted additional inspectors general.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification in this regard through its Police-1 Section.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Towsif Ahmed, said the transfers were made in the public interest and would take immediate effect.
According to the notification, Md Mushfequr Rahman, formerly serving as deputy inspector general (DIG) at the Police Headquarters, has been posted as additional inspector general at the same office.
DIG Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, previously director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), has been appointed as additional inspector general of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Former Chattogram Range DIG Md Moniruzzaman has been posted as additional inspector general of Police Telecom, while Faruk Ahmed, who had been serving as additional director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has been made additional inspector general of the Highway Police.
The reshuffle also includes several changes at the DIG level. Proloy Chisim has been transferred from the office of the DIG of FDMN, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) to the Police Training Centre (PTC), Noakhali, while Mia Masud Karim has been moved from the CID to the office of the DIG of FDMN, APBn.
Mohammad Osman Gani, formerly additional police commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been posted as DIG of PTC, Rangpur. AKM Mosharraf Hossain Miazi has been transferred from the Special Branch (SB) to serve as DIG of PTC, Khulna.
Among the Additional DIG-level officers, Moha Asaduzzaman has been transferred to the RAB from the Police Headquarters, while AKM Aktaruzzaman of the Special Branch and Md Kutub Uddin, former commanding officer of the 2nd APBn, have been posted to the Police Headquarters.
Md Al Mamun has been appointed commanding officer (Additional DIG) of the 2nd APBn, while Sarker Mohammad Kaisar has been made commandant of the Police Special Training School (PSTS), Betbunia.
Mohammad Mohibul Islam Khan has been posted to the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA), Sardah, as additional DIG.
Md Abdul Warish has been transferred to PTC, Rangpur, while Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan has been attached to the Barishal Range DIG’s office as additional DIG.
Among the superintendents of police (SPs), Kazi Ehsanul Kabir has been posted from the CID to the Police Headquarters, while Md Jahidur Rahman has been transferred from the SB to the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah.
Salma Syed Poly has been attached to the Rangpur Range DIG’s office from the Anti-Terrorism Unit.
Md Shahidul Islam, former commandant of the In-Service Training Centre in Jhenaidah, and Md Kamruzzaman of Police Telecom have also been attached to the Barishal Range DIG’s office as SPs.
