A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to Mohammad Faisal, managing director of Este Medical Bangladesh, in a case filed over alleged sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain granted the bail till the next hearing in the case, said the complainant’s lawyer Khurshed Mia Alam.
According to court sources, Faisal gets bail on several conditions including–surrendering his passport, cooperating with the investigating officer during the investigation, and furnishing a bond of Tk500,000.
Earlier, Faisal surrendered before the court through his lawyers and sought bail on Tuesday. The court denied the bail petition and sent him to jail.
Earlier, on 23 April, the victim’s father, Mohammad Habibur Rahman, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station, where he alleged that the accused lured the girl with offers of outings in March 2025.
The case claimed that the victim accompanied the accused because he was her maternal uncle, where he harassed the victim on several occasions. The accused also allegedly sexually assaulted the girl in a car after offering to teach her how to drive on 24 June.
The victim, the case claimed, initially kept quiet to protect family relations but suffered psychological trauma. The incident was revealed on 17 April, when she confronted the accused at her elder sister’s wedding and her family found out, the case documents said.
