The government has allowed Ad-Din Hospital, located in the capital’s Moghbazar area, to resume operations, and instructed it to meet three conditions.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a statement on Monday, revoking the previous license withdrawal order.
As per the order, the government allows Ad-Din Hospital to resume operations after a probe report was found to be satisfactory.
According to an order issued by the Health Services Division of the ministry, the decision followed the hospital’s appeal against the cancellation of its license and the findings of a committee formed to examine the appeal.
The order signed by Md Qumruzzaman Chowdhury, secretary of the Health Services Division, said the committee was instructed on 15 July to conduct an on-site inspection and submit its report within three working days regarding the hospital’s appeal and supporting documents submitted after the deaths of six newborns.
The three conditions are:
1) The hospital authorities must follow the instructions stated under “The Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982”
2) The number of duty doctors and nurses must be appointed swiftly
3) Any authority empowered by the government reserves the power to take legal measures if the hospital fails to meet the requirements stated under the license
The licence of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital was previously cancelled following the alleged negligent deaths of six newborns at the hospital, an incident that triggered a government investigation and widespread public concern.
