Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an awareness campaign on measles prevention in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore on Wednesday.
The campaign was held at Brahmakati Government Primary School at 11am with participation from local women and schoolchildren.
The event was presided over by Keshabpur upazila unit president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho AFM Shafi.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rehenewaz attended the programme as the chief guest, while Upazila Education Officer Nazrul Islam spoke as special guest.
Among others, Upazila Shuvosangho General Secretary Principal Asim Kumar Ghosh and Brahmakati Government Primary School Head Teacher Promila Debnath also addressed the event.
Journalists Tanmoy Mitra Bapi, Raihan Jony and Rustam Farazi, along with teachers Salma Parveen, Khadija Khatun, Nasrin Akter, Rezaul Islam, Anupama Dutta and Lailatun Nahar, were present.
Addressing mothers at the programme, Dr Rehenewaz urged them to seek medical attention immediately if children develop fever and reddish rashes.
He said almost all children in Keshabpur have already been brought under measles vaccination coverage. He also provided advice on caring for measles patients and necessary precautions.
Special guest Nazrul Islam said children become more encouraged and develop a positive mindset when their good deeds are appreciated.
Leaflets on the measles-rubella vaccination campaign were distributed among mothers and child participants after the programme.
