The Bangladesh Nationalist Party nominated the party’s former senior joint secretary general and current Standing Committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed as acting secretary general on Thursday.
The change was made following the Section 7(B)(6) of the party’s constitution, said a press release.
The decision was taken following the election of former secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the country’s president earlier in the day, which made the party position vacant.
The decision will be effective immediately, the party said.
