BNP Standing Committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has said the BNP is following the path of democracy shown by “Mother of Democracy” and uncompromising leader Begum Khaleda Zia.
He made the remarks while addressing a brief discussion as the chief guest before a prayer session organised by BNP’s Dhaka South City unit at Motijheel AGB Colony Community Centre on Tuesday afternoon, marking Khaleda Zia’s 82nd birthday.
Rizvi said, “As long as Bangladesh and nationalism exist, the name of Begum Khaleda Zia will be written in golden letters.”
He said Khaleda Zia had taught people how to love the country and sacrifice her own and her family’s safety, happiness and comfort for it.
The BNP leader further said Ziaur Rahman had declared Bangladesh’s independence in 1971, putting aside the safety of his family members.
Similarly, he said, Khaleda Zia had waged an uncompromising struggle on the streets for more than three decades in two phases.
Dhaka South City BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu presided over the programme, while Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin moderated it.
