Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam has urged opposition parties to give the government time instead of organising programmes such as long march.

He made the remarks on Saturday (19 September) while inaugurating a “Market in Exchange for Waste” programme jointly organised by Bidyanondo Foundation and DSCC at Swarighat in the capital.

Abdus Salam urged the opposition to stand by the government without increasing public suffering.

“Do not create a path for the return of the old autocracy. Instead, cooperate with the city corporation in cleaning up waste,” he said.

The DSCC administrator also said there are plans to generate electricity, gas and diesel from waste.

He said work is underway to make the rivers surrounding Dhaka navigable.
