The Officers’ Association of the Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB), the representative body of the department’s officers, has formed a new 41-member executive committee. Director (Geology) Syed Nazrul Islam has been elected president, while Deputy Director (Geology) Md Faruk Hasan has been elected general secretary.
The newly formed committee will be advised by GSB Deputy Director General (Division-1) Md Ali Akbar and Deputy Director General (Division-2) Mohammad Abdul Aziz Patowary.
The vice presidents are Director (Geology) Salma Akter, Director (Geology) Mohammad Nurul Haque, Director (Geophysics) Dr Sultana Nasrin Noori, and Director (Chemistry) Md Riazul Islam.
The joint general secretaries are Deputy Director (Geology) Mohammad Firoz Alam, Md Nazwanul Haque, Muhammad Masum, and Deputy Director (Drilling) Md Masud Rana.
The 41-member executive committee also includes 11 additional members from the ranks of directors, deputy directors and assistant directors. A full-fledged committee has been constituted by appointing officers from different levels of the organisation to various positions.
Officials expressed hope that the newly formed committee will play a significant role in safeguarding the professional interests of GSB officers, enhancing their skills, strengthening mutual cooperation and making the association’s activities more dynamic and effective.
They also expressed optimism that the committee would undertake various initiatives to promote officers’ welfare, improve professional capacity and contribute to the institutional development of the Geological Survey of Bangladesh.
