After winning acclaim and accolades at international film festivals, “Mastul” directed by Mohammad Nuruzzaman has been released in the country. The film was released in five modern theatres in the country on Friday.

Director Mohammad Nuruzzaman said that in the first phase, “Mastul” will be screened in a total of five theatres in the capital and Narayanganj. Among these, two shows will be held daily at the Bashundhara branch of Star Cineplex in the capital, one at 2pm and the other at 7:30pm.

Similarly, there will be two daily screenings at the Star Cineplex Narayanganj branch. In addition, the film is also being released at Jamuna Blockbuster, Lions Cinema and Narayanganj Cinescope.

The story of “Mastul” revolves around Maqbul, an elderly cook on a fuel tanker, and Nura, a street child in the port area. Through their relationship, the lives of people dependent on the river and the port, loneliness, human tensions, power conflicts and the struggle for survival have emerged.

Fazlur Rahman Babu plays the role of Maqbul in the movie. Apart from this, Deepak Sumon, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Arif Hasan and many others play important roles.

Tonghar Talkies is responsible for the digital distribution and promotion of “Mastul”, produced by “Cinemaker”. IScreen and Channel i are the OTT and television partners.

It is worth noting that ‘Mastul’ made it to the main competition section of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival last year. There, the movie won the ‘Special Mention’ award. Which is considered a significant international recognition for independent cinema in Bangladesh.
