The much-anticipated gazette notification for the new national pay scale will not be issued today (Thursday), despite an earlier announcement that it would be published by Thursday.
Finance Ministry officials said the process was taking some additional time to complete the necessary formalities.
The draft of the Ninth National Pay Scale-2026 has already been sent to the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press), a Finance Ministry official said.
According to sources, the draft will go through the necessary procedures before being sent for legal vetting and formal publication with an SRO number.
Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder told the media that the gazette notification for the Ninth National Pay Scale-2026 would be issued on Sunday (6 September).
The Cabinet approved the new pay structure last Monday. The government is also making preparations to arrange the funds required to implement the new pay scale.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani said the funds required for the new pay scale had already been taken into account in the Medium-Term Budget Framework (MTBF).
Therefore, he said, the expenditure would not be a sudden burden on the government.
