The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh has urged Bangladeshi patients to go to Malaysia for advanced treatment at affordable prices. As part of this, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has launched a ‘U-Turn’ campaign.
On Monday, a delegation from MHTC met with the Honorable Minister H.E. Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain at the office of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Dhaka. The delegation was led by Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh H.E. Mohd Shuhada Othman.
The meeting discussed further strengthening healthcare cooperation between the two countries. MHTC said that the revenue from the healthcare travel sector has increased by 22.7 percent when Bangladeshi patients seek treatment in Malaysia compared to last year.
MHTC officials said that Malaysia now has advanced technology hospitals, specialist doctors and comparatively low-cost treatment. That is why Bangladeshi patients are being urged to choose Malaysia as their first choice.
The MHTC’s visit and program in Bangladesh will continue from August 17 to 20. During the visit, they will meet with hospitals, referral agencies, and health-related organizations. The Ministry of Health has also expressed a positive attitude towards increasing medical cooperation between the two countries.
