Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has pledged to support the future of Ramisa Akter’s elder sister.
The prime minister made the announcement on Thursday night during a personal visit to the home of Ramisa Akter, the eight-year-old girl who was raped and killed earlier this week.
Tarique arrived at the family’s flat in Pallabi, Mirpur, around 9:45pm after travelling directly from a cabinet meeting at the secretariat.
During the visit, he assured the family that the case would be investigated swiftly and thoroughly.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, among others, accompanied the prime minister during the visit.
Ramisa, a second-grader at Popular Model High School in Mirpur, was killed in a neighbouring flat in the same building on 19 May.
The main accused, Sohel Rana, 34, gave a confessional statement before a court on 20 May, admitting that he sexually assaulted and later killed the child.
