Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will leave Dhaka for New York on 21 September to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said on Sunday.
He said the prime minister would stay in New York until 26 September and hold a series of meetings with world leaders alongside addressing the UN General Assembly.
The state minister disclosed the itinerary while speaking to reporters at the Foreign Ministry.
“Insha Allah, the prime minister’s UN programme will be announced in detail. We will probably leave on the 21st and stay in New York until the 26th,” Humaiun said.
He said the prime minister would have a busy schedule in New York and present Bangladesh’s vision at the UN, outlining his vision of what the “new Bangladesh” would look like to the international community.
“Bangladesh today has gone through a democratic transition, with the BNP being elected to government through a free and fair election. The prime minister will share his vision of where he wants to take Bangladesh with the international community at the United Nations,” he said.
