President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is set to make his maiden visit to Sylhet since assuming office on Tuesday (15 September), with the trip scheduled to last a day.
According to the schedule, the President will visit the shrines of Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) after arriving in Sylhet.
He is then scheduled to attend a civic reception organised by Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) at 3pm.
The President is expected to return to Dhaka in the evening after the programme.
Extensive preparations are underway across Sylhet ahead of his visit and are now nearing completion. Arches have been erected and decorative lighting installed at various points across the city, while key roads and areas have been cleaned.
The administration has also stepped up security measures centring the visit. The district administration and police held separate coordination meetings ahead of the President’s arrival.
Special security arrangements have been made at the venues, along the President’s travel routes and in other important areas.
Members of the Special Security Force (SSF), President Guard Regiment (PGR), law enforcement agencies and intelligence services have been deployed to ensure security during the visit.
