A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred the date for the submission of the probe report to 29 September in the murder case of late film actor Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon, widely known as Salman Shah, filed against 11 persons, including his wife, Samira Haque.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana set the new date as the investigating officer of the case failed to submit the report on the scheduled date. This marks the eighth deferment of the probe report submission date.
Earlier, on 20 October, Dhaka’s 6th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed an order to file a fresh case nearly 29 years after the actor’s death.
The court also ordered Ramna Model Police Station to submit the probe report. On the same night, Salman Shah’s maternal uncle, Md Alamgir Kumkum, filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station.
Along with Salman Shah’s wife, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Latifa Haque Luci, film actor Don, David, Javed, Faruk, Rubi, Abdus Sattar, Saju and Rezvi Ahmed were made accused in the case. Among them, Don was recently arrested and placed on remand in the case.
On 6 September 1996, film actor Salman Shah’s body was recovered from his residence in Eskaton, Dhaka. His father, Komoruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, initially filed an unnatural death (UD) case.
