Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the President of Bangladesh.
In a congratulatory statement on Thursday (27 August), the Russian leader conveyed his best wishes to the newly elected President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, according to the Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh.
Putin wished his Bangladeshi counterpart well-being, good health and success in his future endeavours for the benefit of the friendly people of Bangladesh.
The statement comes following Mirza Fakhrul’s election as the country’s new President, marking a new chapter in Bangladesh’s political leadership.
Russia and Bangladesh have maintained longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation in a range of areas, including trade, energy and infrastructure.
