Three members of a family were killed after a truck hit a motorbike they were travelling on in Digholia upazila of Khulna on Friday night.
The deceased were Farzana, 22, wife of Sheikh Shihab; their 22-month-old daughter; and Farzana’s sister Rubia, 20, all residents of Uthli village in Kalia upazila of Narail.
Police said Shihab was riding the motorbike, carrying his wife, sister-in-law and daughter, from Digholia to Kalia.
A truck hit the motorbike in the Ambaria area around 9:30pm, leaving the three dead on the spot.
Digholia police station Inspector (Investigation) Shuvro Prakash Das said the trucker and his assistant fled the scene after the accident.
Police seized the truck and legal action was underway, he added.
