A Dhaka court on Thursday placed two more accused on a four-day remand each in a case filed over the killing and dismemberment of a young woman in the capital’s Sabujbagh area.
The accused are the husband of the victim’s friend, Monjurul Islam Rabbi, and Shawon, who allegedly took part in the killing along with the victim’s friend, Shahida.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought a 10-day remand for each of them, said Sub-Inspector Mominul Islam of the Prosecution Division.
According to the case statement, police recovered the severed head and two hands of an unidentified woman wrapped in a polythene bag on 6 August from the Begunbari Culvert area under Sabujbagh Police Station.
The victim was later identified as Suraiya Akter alias Felani, 19, with the help of information technology. Her parents also identified the body from photographs of the severed head and tattoos on both hands.
Several accused have been arrested and placed on remand in the case earlier.
