Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib has provided an update on the injury that has kept him out of the national side.
Following widespread speculation regarding his condition, the pacer has now addressed the matter himself.
Sakib provides injury update
There had been rumours suggesting that Sakib could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, the 23 years old quick shared the latest details of his recovery in a post on Facebook.
In his statement, Sakib wrote:
“Assalamualaikum. I have come across some misleading reports from various sources, so I felt it was important to update everyone regarding my injury.”
The pacer revealed that he has suffered a fracture in his hip bone and explained the treatment plan agreed upon by the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) medical team.
“A few days ago, i was diagnosed with a fracture in my hip bone. After discussions between the BCB medical team, a surgeon from New Zealand, and the New Zealand cricket team’s physiotherapist, it was decided that natural healing would be the best course of action.
Normally, another MRI scan is carried out after six to seven weeks to determine whether the bone has healed sufficiently,” He said.
Sakib is currently resting as part of his recovery process and will only resume bowling once the injury has healed.
“I am currently in a period of rest. Once the bone has healed, i will gradually begin rehabilitation and return to bowling. This process will take some time.”
The fast bowler concluded by requesting prayers and support from fans during his recovery.
“Please keep me in your prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah.”
