American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and Brain Station 23 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote research and thesis projects on artificial intelligence (AI) addressing real-world challenges faced by industry.
The MoU was signed at the AIUB campus on Tuesday. Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, and MJ Ferdous, Executive Director of Brain Station 23, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions, said a press release.
Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB; Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr. Dip Nandi, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST); and other officials of AIUB attended the ceremony. Representatives from Brain Station 23 were also present.
Under the agreement, AIUB and Brain Station 23 will explore opportunities for joint research in areas including AI benchmarking, conversational AI, multi-agent systems, vision-language systems, and retrieval-augmented generation.
As part of the collaboration, Brain Station 23 will identify selected challenges from its industry projects that can be used by AIUB students for research and thesis work. Engineers and AI specialists from the company will provide technical guidance to students involved in the projects.
The initiative is expected to give students practical exposure to AI and software development projects while creating opportunities for industry engagement and potential internships. The two organisations will also collaborate on workshops, seminars, and hackathons on AI-related topics and participate in AIUB’s Career and Innovation Fair.
Among others, Professor Dr. Khandaker Tabin Hasan, Associate Dean, FST; Mashiour Rahman, Senior Associate Professor and Director, Ranking and Global Engagement Office; and Abu Mia Akanda Tuhin, Head of Public Relations, attended the ceremony from AIUB, Asif Haque, Head of Strategic Business Unit, and other officials represented Brain Station 23.
