Dengue death toll rises to eight in Rangpur this year

The death toll from dengue, a mosquito-borne disease, in Rangpur division has risen to eight this year following the death of another 35-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment for dengue symptoms at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH).

Rangpur Divisional Director of Health Dr Md Wazed Ali confirmed the information to BSS today.

The deceased was identified as Rumi, daughter of Mohammad Kafi, from Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district.

Meanwhile, sources at the office of the Rangpur Divisional Director of Health said that 75 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals across the division in the last 24 hours.

From January 1 to October 2 this year, a total of 2,522 patients with dengue symptoms were admitted to hospitals across Rangpur division. Of them, eight died, while 2,288 patients recovered and returned home.

Currently, 226 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the division.
