President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir released 400 kilograms of carp fish fingerlings into the Singha Pond at Bangabhaban on Thursday morning.
He released the fish fingerlings under the programme “A self-reliant country in silver fish, Bangladesh first for all,” organised by the Department of Fisheries.
At the time, Mirza Fakhrul Islam released 160 kilograms of Rui, 120 kilograms of Catla, 80 kilograms of Mrigal and 40 kilograms of Kalibaus fish fingerlings in the Singha Pond, a press release from the President’s Press Wing said.
The President’s Military Secretary, Secretary of the Public Division, Press Secretary, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Director General of the Department of Fisheries and senior officials of Bangabhaban and the ministries, among others, were present on the occasion.
After the release of the fish fingerlings, the Pesh Imam of the Bangabhaban Jame Mosque conducted a munajat, seeking progress, prosperity and welfare of the country.
