Three people were killed and another injured after a bus crashed into a standing covered van from behind in Muhuriganj area of Feni on Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 7am in front of Daulatpur Government Primary School on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, according to police.
The deceased included the covered van’s driver and helper and the driver of the bus. Their identities could not be known immediately.
Abu Noman, a sub-inspector at Fazilpur Highway Police Station, said a covered van had broken down and was stationary on the Chattogram-bound lane. Attempts were being made to tow the vehicle by attaching it to a long vehicle when a bus of Unique Paribahan, travelling at high speed from behind, rammed into it.
The covered van’s driver and helper and the driver of the bus died at the scene, he said.
The injured person was rescued and taken to Feni 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.
Fazilpur Highway police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue of Feni 250-bed General Hospital.
The three vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, police said.
