The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of three food products from the market after laboratory tests found excessive levels of preservatives deemed harmful to human health.

In a notice issued on Thursday, the food safety regulator directed the manufacturers to immediately withdraw the products from the market and halt their distribution and sale.

The products are East Cake Pur Pitha Jam Filled (Intact), manufactured by East Cake International Food Ltd; East Baker Slice Bread Milk Jam Filled (Intact), manufactured by East GBI International Ltd; and Arboting Food Slice Bread Mix Jam Filled (Intact), manufactured by Arboting Food Co Ltd.

According to the BFSA, the products were found to contain preservatives above the permissible limit, posing potential health risks to consumers.

It also advised consumers not to purchase or consume the listed products and urged the public to remain cautious while buying processed food items.
